Budget 2026 Internationalisation Grants: What Changed for Singapore SMEs

Budget 2026 (Annex B-1) announced the biggest upgrade to Singapore's internationalisation grants in years. MRA support rises from 50% to 70% for SMEs, DTDi automatic deduction triples to S$400K per year, and the 'new market' requirement for MRA is removed. BizAdapt and GIA also get enhanced support levels. This guide covers every change, effective dates, and what it means for your overseas expansion plans—updated as of 12 March 2026.

How Does This Affect MRA Applications?

The two biggest MRA changes:

  1. Support jumps from 50% to 70% (1 Apr 2026 – 31 Mar 2029). A S$100,000 project now gets S$70,000 back instead of S$50,000.
  2. Any overseas market qualifies (from 2H 2026). You no longer need to prove the target market is “new” (sales <S$100K in past 3 years).

The S$100,000 per-market cap and sub-caps (OMP S$20K, OBD S$50K, OMS S$30K) remain unchanged.

How Does This Affect DTDi Claims?

DTDi’s automatic deduction cap triples from S$150,000 to S$400,000 per Year of Assessment, starting YA 2027. More activities now qualify without prior approval, including overseas development trips and investment study trips.

Previously, spending S$300,000 on overseas expansion required EnterpriseSG pre-approval. Under the new rules, it qualifies automatically.

How Does This Affect BizAdapt and GIA?

Both grants move to tiered support:

  • SMEs: 70% of eligible costs
  • Non-SMEs: 50% of eligible costs

BizAdapt remains capped at S$100,000 per enterprise. This enhancement is effective from 1 April 2026.

How Does This Affect EFS Loans?

EFS removes individual loan-type borrower caps:

  • Fixed Assets Loan: S$30M cap per borrower — lifted
  • Trade Loan: S$10M cap per borrower — lifted
  • Overall EFS cap: S$50M per borrower group remains

This gives companies more flexibility to allocate across loan types. Effective 1 April 2026.
